The forex market is a super-competitive, fast-moving market that will eat you alive if you aren't careful. Bid-ask spreads for many currency pairs are in the hundredths of a cent, so even minor trading errors can be quite costly when aggregated. Make sure you choose a time to trade that works for you. Trading when you are overly tired or stressed is never a good idea. You will not want to take the time to make sure you are doing the best thing with your money. Choose a time when you have the energy and concentration that you need to succeed.

With Forex, you have to be prepared to trade any time, day or night, as long as the opportunity presents itself. Some Forex investors only do this on the weekends or choose to trade only a few days out of the work week. This is really hindering your ability to make profits. Before you deposit any money, make sure that your Forex brokers offers the currency pairs that you would like to trade. The major pairs are USD/CHF, EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY. Always exercise risk control when trading. You can minimize your loses in the Forex market by always predetermining your exit points before each trade, never risking more than 3% to 4% of you capital on any one trade and taking a break from trading if you lose a predetermined amount of your initial capital.

Buy some forex books from reputable authors or sign up for some classes with a professional forex trader to learn about technical analysis. Technical analysis involves analyzing charts of market action in order to forecast future price trends. Understanding and using technically analysis can dramatically increase your profits in the forex market, but remember that global events can also influence price trends.

Make sure you select the right kind of account. If you are a beginner, choose something that will not require a lot of managing skills. Once you are more comfortable, upgrade to an account that reflects how much money you want to invest, and how much you need to make.

Find out when certain economic indicators are released by the government. There is usually some fluctuation in currency prices as the public anticipates the release of the figures. Prices are mostly driven by people's sentiments as they anticipate good news or bad news. Knowing when these indicators are released will prepare you to make the appropriate decision on currency trading.
