Are Forex Trading Courses Really Worth Paying For?

By James Kupe

If you want to become a profitable forex trader then you are going to have to pay for your education in one of two ways. There simply isn't an 'easy' way to get started, although there's plenty of people who are willing to sell you a 'Forex Trading Robot' with the promise that you'll make a bunch of money without having to know anything about trading. I don't think so.

The way many people try to learn to trade is to spend time and money working everything out by themselves. This can work, but the time you spend figuring it out and the losses you incur while you are learning can be breathtaking. You might be successful using this method, but you are probably going to be in for a fair amount of disappointment on the way there.

If you can keep the losses during this learning phase small, you can probably spend the time needed to teach yourself how to trade. Or you might just blow up one, two or even more trading accounts, and give the whole thing away. But the biggest problem with this do-it-yourself method is you're burning through a lot of TIME. And time is something most of us are never going to have enough of. You can easily make more money, especially trading the forex market, but you are never going to be able to make more time.

The second (and for most people, the best) option is to find someone who has been through that learning curve for you, and then buy, borrow or license their trading system so you can use it yourself. If you've spent a considerable amount of time and/or money trying to get good at something in the past, you'll know which option you should take. So what can a forex trading course teach you that you can't learn for free?

Well first of all, the forex market is a highly evolved and complex beast. There are many different factors that affect the way the market behaves, so there are lots of things to be analyzed and understood before you dip your toe into the market. That means that anyone who tries to trade based on some free training they found on Youtube or in some 'Guru's' email messages is entering into uncharted territory, completely unprepared for what is about to happen to them.

A trader who has a history of helping others learn to trade can teach you everything you need to know about building a profitable business. You will learn how to use the different tools and indicators in a way that will give you an edge over other traders. And your edge is the most important factor in becoming profitable in this business.

You can easily find out about all of the basic stuff such as placing stop loss orders, what kind of leverage is used, how to handle slippage, etc. for free from your broker. But a decent forex trading course will show you how to take all of the individual pieces of the puzzle and fit them together in a way that lets you make a profit consistently.

So if you can get the training you need from someone who has a good track record and is willing to share it, you have a great chance of becoming a successful trader much more quickly. The kind of knowledge you need is never free, and nor should it be. All business owners know they have to invest in themselves to get the best results. So buy a good forex trading course, study it, and use what you learn. You will find the increased profits, lower stress more fun you have as a trader will be more than worth the expense.
