Exploring Coastal San Diego County CA Properties

By Enid Hinton

A number of people dream, and fantasize living in the limelight of Hollywood, and other cities in southern California. There are also those whom prefer to live a more serene coastal lifestyle. For these individuals, a number of coastal San Diego County CA properties can often be found for sale or rent.

Whether buying, or renting, it should be noted that coastal areas are quite popular, and expensive when it comes to purchasing a home. Travelers can often find great deals on nightly rates at many vacation rentals, rates which are often better than the best listed rate at area hotels. Though, for those looking to stay long term, an extended stay type arrangement, or temporary roommate situation often works better, especially when looking for a job, and planning a move.

In the San Diego Coastal vicinity, it appears one can rent a cottage or condo for somewhere in between $115-150 per night. While most often, rents can run anywhere from $750 upward for a one bedroom apartment. As such, those visiting short term can often get better deals on nightly rates with vacation rentals than hotel rooms. There are often other requirements often related to length of stay, room type, arrival and departure times.

Individuals looking to relocate to the area and needing longer stays may fair better with an extended stay lodging type facility. Generally, a good way to measure as to whether a specific location of a hotel or other facility will work is how far the individual has to drive to meetings, work or other events. Consideration should also be given to additional daily expenditures, and how much one makes in order to determine whether or not a job will work out in the long run.

When planning on purchasing, or renting any property, it is important to assure the home is safe and stable. A good example would be individuals looking to move into a residential mobile home park. Whether renting, or buying, it is important to ask potential neighbors and others how the park holds up during severe storms.

When looking in this area, it is often good to avoid homes on hillsides, or those right up against the water. If not, then the chance of losing the home to a mudslide, rockslide, or flooding drastically increases. In addition, most often homeowners in these areas are not approved for damages due to incidents which have been recorded in history. As such, it can be a quite costly experience to purchase a home on a hillside, then lose everything to a slide.

All one has to do is look at the seaside homes in Galveston, Texas, or New Orleans, Louisiana to see the destruction hurricanes and floods can leave behind with relation to homes, personal belongings and families along with the public economic factor which has plagued each city since Hurricane Katrina, in 2005, and Hurricanes Ike & Rita more recently.

When an individual can find a home in the San Diego area that is built well for a reasonable price, it is often a good idea to consider purchasing the home at the time. Otherwise, as has been the case since time immortal, the offer price could go up or down depending on other offers, and whether or not same is approved, or denied. So, if one finds a dream home, it is always good to put a deposit down as soon as possible to secure the deal, whether paying cash, or attempting to obtain a mortgage.
