Commercial Property Tax Protest: How To Get Debt Forgiveness

By Virginia King

Everyone pays their levy, how much depends on what you do. The unfortunate thing is that many don t pay them on time, some even go for very long periods without paying them. This can result in commercial property tax protest and losing a lot of what you own. Your property and your salary can both be taken by the IRS. You need Tax debt forgiveness to ensure it doesn t get that far.

For many this process begins with an attorney or lawyer. Someone who has full knowledge of how the system works to negotiate on their behalf. But there are other ways to get help, such as Assistance Center or an Advocate Service located within the IRS. If you don t know what the steps are, you need someone who does.

You must figure out the reason you can t meet your levies. For some it is that they are not employed, therefore there is no money to pay them at all. For others it is that they have a job, however, they don t make enough to pay up so they are underemployed. If anyone of these two scenarios applies to your circumstances then you should apply for the Uncollectable Status.

Don t think that saying your status is uncollectable, then you are free for life. This solution is very temporary and is meant to give you a break until you can sort out your finances. There are two separate forms that could be filled in, depending on whether it s personal or for business. The form 433A is for your personal levy and the 433B is for your business.

Then there is the Offer In Compromise (OIC), which means to pay less than you owe the IRS. This method is also called the cents on the dollar. It is able to help people pay what they can and avoid the rest along with the hefty interest rates. For instance, you could owe $50 000 and get to pat about $10 000, which would mean you cough up 20 cents to the dollar. This means you are forgiven the rest of the amount that you owned previously.

The term Offer in compromise has other programs to help you deal with what you owe. The first is to take a swing at challenging the IRS and paying what you know to be missing not what they say is. The second one is to pay what you can afford in the time being. The third is about providing evidence that you would not survive if you paid them off.

There is another option is filing for a chapter 7 bankruptcy. This gives you a fresh start all your levy is wiped clean. You get to start from scratch and create a new life with all the levy debt erased and this can be a real quick solution for everyone else. You no longer worry about your property or your salary. The IRS no longer has to come after you or anything else that you own.

These are the ways in which you can get pardoned. However many people only know of a few because of exposure. Some of these measures don t need an attorneys intervention. With your own research, you can file for the pardon that best works for your situation. You just have to do this on time and with the right documentation.
